Critical Reading/Writing

In  this class, students will learn to think critically about what they read, interpreting  information and assessing different points of view. Using a more thorough analysis,  they will be asked to form their own conclusions and support them adequately in their writing.

  Math 2A
Algebra I

In Algebra I, students will use lessons from Glencoe’s Algebra textbook to study rational  numbers and their applications, rational and radical expressions, equations, inequalities, factoring, polynomials,  functions and graphs (as well as graphing linear equations), quadratics, systems of open sentences, and statistics.

  Eng 1C
English, grades 6-8(JC, KLC)

Geometry students will learn to work with points, lines, planes, and angles, use perpendicular and parallel lines, and analyze  triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. They will also study surface area and volume, and coordinate geometry. Students will practice using what they learn in order to effectively connect reasoning with proof.

  Math 2C
Algebra II
This class will concentrate on functions, such as understanding and graphing polynomial functions, rational funtions and expressions, and exponential and logarithmic functions. It will also focus on different kinds of sequences and series. This class will use Glencoe’s Alebra II textbook

  Math 2D
Calculus
Students in this class will study functions, graphs, limits, derivatives, and integrals. They will learn to work with functions represented in a variety of ways, and to understand the connections between them. Students will also learn the meaning of derivatives and integrals, understanding how they express change.

  Bio 2A
Biology
Biology students will learn about the nature of different aspects of life. They will study the human body and the environment, including cells, DNA, ecosystems, classification of plants and animals, and the history of life on earth.

  Chem 2A
Chemistry
In this class, students will gain an understanding of atoms, molecules, and ions, chemical reactions, solutions, properties of solids, liquids, and gases, metals and nonmetals, acids and bases, and thermochemistry. This class will use Masterson and Hurley’s Chemistry Principles and Reactions. Span 2A Spanish I An introduction to Spanish, this class will teach students basic Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. Students will practice reading passages and dialogue, writing, and speaking Spanish. Span 2B Spanish II Students who have already studied Spanish may use this class to expand their ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.
