Program B Program B -Individual Tutoring
(Grades 1 –12)
    Individual Tutoring in all subjects, including ESL; 3hr/week per subject, 4 weeks per month. Even the very best students may need extra assistance in a particularly challenging subject. Individual tutoring offers the student an opportunity to sharpen his/her understanding, make unseen connections, and firmly grasp material. JC Education offers such instruction in subjects such as: Math, English, Spanish, and Korean. Our goal is to make these often trying subjects academically manageable and even enjoyable for our students

    English

    Our English classes consist of grammar instruction, reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. Students will learn technical aspects of the English language, in addition to learning how to read more closely and write more effectively. For English students grades 1-8, we use Hayes’ Learning English workbooks, Edcon’s  reading comprehension / vocabulary development books (these include readings, comprehension questions, and vocabulary exercises), Saklier - Oxford Vocabulary Workshop books, and The Princeton Review’s Word Smart Junior vocabulary books. Teachers often choose a separate fiction book to read with students.

    For students grades 9-12, we use Prentice Hall’s Writing and Grammar textbooks, Edcon’s reading comprehension workbooks, The Princeton Review’s Word Smart vocabulary books, and choose a specific novel to read.

    Math /King Math

    JC provides two forms of math tutoring. We offer King Math classes, as well as our own math instruction using Glencoe/McGraw-Hill textbooks.  King math provides a  professional education tailored to meet students’  individual needs. It helps children develop arithmetic ability, application skills, critical and logical thinking, and creativity. Classes use a four-step approach: warm-up, understanding of principles and concepts, application of principles, and development of creativity and thinking.

    "There are no shortcuts" in learning, but there is a right way to learn.

    1. First, and foremost, KingMath provides a professional math education in accordance with student level. No students fall behind. Advanced students become more advanced.

    2. King Math’s materials are different from other books, full of numerical computation questions. KingMath Materials are proven to be the best around for helping kids develop not only arithmetic ability but also application skills, critical logical thinking skills, and creativity. The program is optimized for individual student levels.

    3. KingMath class furnishes only Certified-Math Teachers who pass the "KingMath Training Program."

    4. KingMath requires students to attend two classes a week. Each class consists of warm-up questions, lecture, solving problems, Q & A, homework review and homework assignment.

    5. Whth a diagnostic test, students are placed at the appropriate level. Students will be evaluated periodically so that they can be advanced to the next level.

    Science

    We have skilled, well-educated tutors that teach students biology, chemistry, and physics. Our bilogy classes use Holt, Rinehart, and Winston’s Biology: Principles and Explorations; chemistry classes use Masterson and Hurley’s Chemistry: Principles and Reactions.

    Foreign Language

    JC has fluent foreign language speakers able to teach your child at his/her own level. Instructors work with students to improve their understanding of grammar, reading, writing, and speaking. Students will reach a higher level of competence in all of these areas
